My Story

I’m Silvana Barrios Pereyra, a sculptor based in San Diego, California. My practice in porcelain and stoneware is deeply tied to memory, imperfection, and the quiet resilience of handmade work. I believe our lives are shaped by the places we encounter and the fragments we carry with us—echoes that surface in my sculptures and installations.
From early on, I turned to drawing as a way of understanding the world around me. That same impulse led me to study graphic design at the University of Buenos Aires and later refine my visual language through photography and sustainable design in Milan and the Netherlands. Each step expanded my vocabulary, but it was through clay that I found a medium where fragility and strength coexist.
Working with traditional hand-building techniques, I shape pieces that are meditations on form, space, and imperfection. My sculptures are not objects of function but of reflection—poetic constellations meant to slow time, invite intimacy, and open room for silence.
My work has been featured in curated spaces such as:
- Museum of Contemporary Art La Jolla (San Diego, California)
- Oceanside Museum of Art (Oceanside, California)
- Crocker Art Museum (Sacramento, California)
- Village Art Center, Studio 8, Balboa Park (San Diego, California)
- George Foster The Market (Temecula, California)
Through each piece, I share a personal journey, offering others a space to experience serenity and the imperfect beauty of the handmade.
